Sports Turf – Bulawayo

Built for Champions. Made to Last

Real grass pitches demand constant reseeding, irrigation, and recovery time between matches — a losing battle against Bulawayo’s dry season and heavy use. Tusker Civils & Landscapes’ sports turf is engineered specifically for Zimbabwe’s conditions, giving clubs, schools, and estates a high-performance, durable, and long-lasting surface that delivers consistent play all year round. It’s part of our full Artificial Grass range, alongside our Landscaping Turf and Pet-Friendly Turf options.

If you’re building out a full facility, our Paving teams can handle surrounding walkways and hardstandings, and our Irrigation division covers any natural-grass areas on the same site.

Turf Built for Your Sport

Every sport puts different demands on a playing surface, so we match pile height, infill, and construction to the game.

Soccer Turf — 40mm & 45mm

Smaller pitches, indoor arenas, and 5-a-side or futsal fields perform best on 40mm turf. It offers a firmer surface with a faster, more direct ball roll, and it holds less infill, which makes it easier to manage in confined spaces.

Full outdoor soccer fields and multi-sport community pitches call for 45mm turf instead. The deeper pile gives better cushioning and shock absorption, reducing player joint impact and fatigue during heavy play. It also accommodates a deeper layer of sand and rubber infill, which keeps the blades upright and resistant to flattening over time.

Putting Greens — 13mm

Our 13mm putting green turf is engineered for a smooth, true ball roll on every stroke. The tighter, lower pile gives golfers a consistent, predictable surface that performs the same in January as it does in July, without the divots, bare patches, or inconsistent speed that natural greens develop under heavy play. It suits home putting greens, estate greens, and mini-golf courses alike.

Hockey Fields

Hockey demands a fast, even surface that supports quick ball movement and reliable footing. Our hockey turf is built to keep pace with the sport without the reseeding and irrigation schedule a natural hockey pitch requires, making it a practical choice for schools running daily training sessions.

Tennis Courts

Tennis turf gives players a consistent bounce and grip, match after match, without the resurfacing costs of a hard court or the maintenance of grass courts. It performs reliably through Bulawayo’s full-sun months and rainy season alike.

Cricket Fields

From practice nets to full outfields, our cricket turf holds up under daily training loads without matting or bald patches developing at the crease or popping areas — the spots where natural grass wears out fastest.

Padel Courts

Padel’s fast, enclosed style of play needs a surface that performs consistently against the court walls and underfoot. Our padel turf is built for that demand, with UV-stable fibres that hold their colour and structure under constant use.

Why Clubs and Schools Choose Our Sports Turf

Our turf is UV stable and weather resistant, so it holds its colour and structure through Bulawayo’s full-sun months and rainy season alike. Maintenance stays low: there’s no irrigation, mowing, or reseeding, just periodic brushing to keep the surface performing.

Player safety improves too. Shock-absorbing infill reduces joint impact and fatigue during heavy play, whatever the sport. And because the turf is engineered to hold up under daily training loads, it resists matting and bald patches far longer than natural grass.

Over its lifespan, the surface pays for itself. Without an irrigation, fertiliser, or reseeding budget, the long-term cost works out well below natural grass upkeep.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the sport. Soccer uses 40mm turf for smaller pitches and indoor arenas or 45mm for full-size outdoor fields. Golf greens use a 13mm pile for a smooth, true roll. Hockey, tennis, cricket, and padel each use a pile height and construction matched to that sport’s specific demands, which our team confirms during your site visit.

Infill holds the turf blades upright and controls how the ball rolls and bounces. Lighter infill suits shorter, faster surfaces like 40mm soccer turf or putting greens, while deeper infill suits 45mm soccer turf and other high-traffic playing surfaces.

Yes. Shock-absorbing infill reduces joint impact and fatigue compared to hard-packed natural surfaces, and the surface stays consistent regardless of weather or how many matches it’s seen that week.

Very little compared to natural grass. There’s no irrigation, mowing, or reseeding involved. Periodic brushing to redistribute infill and keep fibres upright is generally all that’s required.

Yes. A properly compacted, permeable sub-base drains rainfall quickly, so the surface stays playable without the waterlogging or softening that affects natural grass.
